Living History at the Battery

Each year, the battery comes alive as we welcome a wide range of living history groups, bringing the past vividly into the present. From Home Front, the Home Guard, to the D-Day Dodgers, our events showcase the passion and knowledge of dedicated volunteers—many of whom are leading collectors in the South West. No two open days are ever the same: expect period motorbikes, The Leyland Hippo, a Bedford QL and authentic home front scenes your grandparents would instantly recognise, Land Army and National Fire Service displays, and even German exhibits, offering a balanced view of both sides of the war.
